Headteacher's Welcome

It is a pleasure to welcome everyone to our website, a place where we not only share key information but celebrate our school, the learning that takes place and the opportunities we offer beyond the classroom.

Our vision of diversity is our strength and together we succeed is at the forefront of all that we do, which ensures there is something very special about Welford and means we truly value the rich tapestry of cultures and communities on our doorstep.

At Welford, I am lucky and incredibly proud to lead an amazing team of staff who seek to share an array of learning with the children, families, local community and governors of our school. We have created an open, approachable and harmonious school where each voice is valued and contributes to our ongoing drive for sustainable excellence for all.

Of course, children are at the heart of every decision we make: we endeavour to ensure they are happy, feel safe and become confident, independent and resilient learners, who take on each challenge with enthusiasm. The culture of our school is one of positive partnerships and ambition for all our children through teaching an inclusive curriculum where high standards are the norm regardless of individual starting points. This ensures that children make progress in their outcomes across the curriculum, are provided with opportunities to foster a love of learning and are on the path to meet their hopes and dreams. Our inclusive practises recognise achievement in all areas and not simply those that can be measured by data, graphs and charts.

We recognise the value, importance and integrity of adults as role models, using this to underpin our behaviour and 3R expectations of being ready to learn, responsible and respectful. Within school we have cultivated an environment of mutual respect for each other, and the environment in which we learn. We also take pride in showcasing our school and the possibilities it offers too all.

I hope that our website provides you with as much information as possible about our school and the range of activities that our children enjoy throughout our curriculum and extra-curricular activities, however it can never replace the first-hand experience of visiting Welford.
